Prosecutors in Sumy have sent an indictment to the court against the former president of the public organization "Federation of Field Hockey of Ukraine." He is suspected of embezzling 723 thousand UAH allocated for the participation of the National Women's Field Hockey Team of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the team was preparing for the qualifying tournament of the European Championship in Vilnius (Lithuania). The National Olympic Committee and the head coach of the team transferred funds to the then-leader of the federation to pay the entry fee to the European Field Hockey Federation and cover related expenses.

Instead, the official used the received money for personal needs, completely ignoring the interests of the team. As a result, the Ukrainian team, which consists mainly of athletes from Sumy, was suspended from all international competitions.

The actions of the accused have been classified under part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — embezzlement of property in large amounts through abuse of office, committed under martial law.

The investigation was conducted by investigators of the Sumy District Police Department in cooperation with the Strategic Investigations Department in the Sumy region under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office.
