Prosecutors of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent indictments to the court regarding two employees of the paramilitary security of the "Kherson" and "Mykolaiv" stations, part of the regional branch of "Odesa Railway" JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia". They are accused of treason committed under martial law (part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
During the temporary occupation of Kherson in June 2022, the railway workers voluntarily sided with the enemy and became "the heads of the guard of the armed team for the protection of cargo at the Kherson station" within the structure created by the occupying administration of the Russian Federation, the "State Unitary Enterprise 'Kherson Railway'."
They facilitated the functioning of illegally created units, carried out orders from the Russian occupying authorities, guarded infrastructure facilities, and assisted the aggressor state in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine.
After the de-occupation of the regional center, both individuals were exposed by law enforcement and were served with suspicions.
Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office, the pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Melitopol.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
