Two architectural monuments of national importance in Cherkasy region have been returned to state ownership

Following the lawsuits filed by prosecutors from Cherkasy, the court has ordered the regional administration to formalize the state ownership rights to the unique architectural monuments of national significance — the Ascension and Transfiguration churches.

Prosecutors proved that the lack of registered ownership led to the objects remaining unprotected and being at risk of destruction.

The Transfiguration Church in the village of Lebedyn was built between 1821 and 1826 and is a monument of national architectural significance. The Ascension Church in the village of Matusiv was constructed by the Kyiv architect Andriy Melensky in the classical style. Its construction lasted from 1812 to 1818.

After the court's decisions gain legal force, all necessary measures will be taken to formally establish ownership rights to these monuments, allowing the state to ensure their proper legal protection.
