Prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office have reported suspicion against a civil servant of the prosecutor's office, who on the evening of July 19, 2025, on Velyka Vasylkivska Street, committed a fatal traffic accident - hitting a woman who was walking on the sidewalk.

Unfortunately, this morning the woman died from her injuries.

It has been established that the suspect was driving against the main flow of traffic on a one-way street, at high speed entered the pedestrian zone, collided with a pedestrian, and immediately after the accident attempted to leave the scene, but was detained by passersby. A Dräger device recorded 1.77 promille of alcohol in the driver's blood.

The driver's actions have been classified under part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely, violation of traffic safety rules committed while in a state of alcohol intoxication, which resulted in the death of the victim.

Prosecutors will apply to the court for a request to impose a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of detention without the possibility of bail.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is being conducted under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv.

The case is under the personal control of the Attorney General Ruslan Kravchenko.
