Under the public prosecution of the prosecutors of the Sumy Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Central region, a serviceman has been sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment for unlawfully leaving the temporary location of the military unit in January 2025 to evade military service.

The convicted individual illegally seized an armored personnel carrier with a firearm, without the command's permission, and left the unit's location. He was later apprehended by law enforcement.

During the pre-trial investigation, the armored personnel carrier was returned to the military unit.

The court found the serviceman guilty under Part 4 of Article 408 and Part 4 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation and operational support were carried out by the Territorial Office of the State Bureau of Investigations located in the city of Poltava.
