With the support of the public prosecution, prosecutors from the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the Novobavarsky District Court of Kharkiv has issued a guilty verdict against a man who, at the request of an FSB officer, photographed and filmed critical infrastructure and military units.
The accused was found guilty of treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property in favor of the state.
The prosecutor proved in court that, starting from the end of July 2024 and for more than two months, a resident of Kharkiv communicated via “Telegram” with an FSB officer from Russia. For a monetary reward, he collected and transmitted the coordinates of military facilities located in the city.
Russian special services were interested in data about one of the border units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and military units of the Armed Forces and National Guard. The accused photographed them, filmed videos, and reported whether there were people and equipment present. In addition, the man himself offered information about the location of fortifications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and the Kyiv region under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
