A saboteur who set fire to railway equipment in the Kyiv region was sentenced to 15 years in prison

Under the public prosecution of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a man has been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property for setting fire to a railway relay cabinet in Kyiv region at the behest of representatives of the aggressor state.
The investigation established that a resident of Kyiv region conspired with a representative of Russian special services. For a monetary reward, he set fire to the relay cabinet in April 2025, which ensured the safety of train movements. During the act of sabotage, the man recorded everything on video and transmitted the materials to his curators.
The perpetrator acted knowing that he was damaging an object of significant economic and defense importance, and that his actions could pose a threat to people's lives and the state's defense capability.
During the pre-trial investigation, prosecutors, together with investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and Kyiv region, gathered irrefutable evidence of the man's guilt. After that, he admitted his guilt and entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor, which the court approved on October 15, 2025.
By the verdict of the Solomiansky District Court of Kyiv on October 15, 2025, the saboteur was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — sabotage committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine with operational support from counterintelligence.
