Up to 12 years in prison, a DNR fighter was condemned in absentia, who raped a woman during the occupation of Kharkiv region

With the support of the public prosecution, prosecutors from the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office found a serviceman of the 115th regiment of the terrorist organization "DNR" guilty of cruel treatment of the civilian population (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced to the maximum punishment under this article — 12 years of imprisonment.

The mentioned unit captured one of the settlements in the Kharkiv district. The occupiers intimidated the peaceful population, conducted filtration measures, and searched local residents.

At the end of April 2022, the convicted individual broke into the property where a young woman lived with her family. The militant, threatening with a weapon and using physical force, raped the victim. After that, threatening to kill her if she told anyone, he left the house.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region.
