A resident of the Kherson Region was sentenced to 8 years in prison for lewd acts against a child
16.12.2025
The head of the Kherson regional prosecutor's office, Serhiy Hrytsenko, supported the public prosecution in court against a man who committed lewd acts against a minor girl.
The court agreed with the arguments of the regional prosecutor and issued a verdict, sentencing the accused to the maximum penalty under the charged article – 8 years of imprisonment. He was also deprived of the right to hold any positions related to the education and upbringing of children or to engage in any activities related to working with children for a period of 3 years (part 2 of Article 156 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
It was proven that the accused lived with the victim in the same village and had known their family for a long time. In early February 2024, the man, under the pretext of joint shopping, took the minor girl to an abandoned house, where he committed lewd acts against her.
The convicted partially admitted his guilt. Until the verdict takes legal effect, he will remain in custody.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kherson region.
“Crimes against children are among the most serious. The position of the prosecutor's office in such cases is unwavering: individuals who threaten the safety and dignity of children must be isolated from society and face severe punishment. This verdict is confirmation that such actions will inevitably lead to responsibility, and this will be the case in every similar instance,” emphasized the head of the Kherson regional prosecutor's office, Serhiy Hrytsenko.
