Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, an investigation has been initiated in a criminal proceeding regarding the commission of a war crime that resulted in loss of life (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). 

According to the investigation, on July 28, 2025, at approximately 23:30, the Russian Federation carried out an airstrike with bombs on the civilian infrastructure of the village of Bilenke in the Zaporizhzhia district of Zaporizhzhia region.  

As a result of the impact of aerial bombs, residential buildings of the correctional colony and the food block were destroyed, and administrative premises were damaged. The private sector buildings in the settlement were also damaged. Currently, it is known that 16 people have died and at least 43 individuals have been injured. 

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceeding is being conducted by investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia region.
