Under the procedural guidance of the Chernihiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Central Region, a law enforcement officer has been notified of suspicion of providing unlawful benefits and aiding in desertion (Part 1 of Article 369, Part 5 of Article 27, Part 4 of Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), while a cadet from one of the military units has been charged with desertion (Part 4 of Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in August 2025, the law enforcement officer provided an unlawful benefit of 1,500 US dollars for the illegal removal of the cadet from the military unit so that he could desert.

A preventive measure in the form of detention without the possibility of bail has been chosen for the suspect.

Currently, measures are being taken to identify and hold accountable other individuals involved in the commission of the crime.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations located in Kyiv, with operational support from the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
