15 years behind bars - a resident of Luhansk region who works on the occupying power of the Russian Federation has been convicted in absentia

Under the public prosecution of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a resident of the Luhansk region has been found guilty of treason and collaborationist activities (Part 2 of Article 111, Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

By the court's verdict, she was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to hold positions in state authorities and local self-government.

Prosecutors proved that in April 2022, the woman voluntarily took the position of "head of the general department of the administration of the Troitsky district of the LPR" in the temporarily occupied territory of the town of Troitske in the Svatove district of the Luhansk region.

Currently, the accused continues to work for the occupying administration and carries out tasks in favor of the enemy.

The pre-trial investigation is conducted by the investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Cherkasy region, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the regional prosecutor's office.

For reference: the sanction of Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 15 years or life imprisonment, with confiscation of property.

Note: the sanction of Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of 10 to 15 years, and with confiscation of property or without it.
