The juvenile prosecutor of the Transcarpathian regional prosecutor's office proved in court the guilt of a 38-year-old resident of Tyachiv district in the rape of his underage stepdaughter.

Based on the collected evidence, it was established that the accused, living together with the girl and her mother, repeatedly raped the girl. At that time, the child was 12 years old. The convicted man chose times when other family members were absent.

The crime became known only a year later when the girl's mother reported to law enforcement about being beaten by her husband. It was then that the child decided to tell about the violence inflicted upon her by her stepfather.

By the verdict of the Tyachiv District Court of the Transcarpathian region, the man was found guilty of the repeated rape of a minor (part 4, 6 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment. In addition, the civil claim of the victim was satisfied – the man was ordered to pay 500,000 hryvnias in moral damages.

Currently, the verdict is expected to enter into legal force. Since the time of his arrest, the suspect has been held in custody without alternative at the Transcarpathian Correctional Facility No. 9.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Transcarpathian region under the procedural guidance of the Transcarpathian regional prosecutor's office.
