05.08.2025
Prosecutors of the Obolon District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv have reported suspicion against a man who, for money, helped extend the disability group status of an individual, and subsequently resolved the issue of the man's departure abroad on that basis.
The Kyiv resident, who has a disability group set to expire in August 2025, was promised assistance in extending it. To do this, it is necessary to sign a declaration with a specific doctor who will refer the individual for a medical and social examination, where the required conclusion will be provided, and the disability group will be extended. This will allow for an official deferment from mobilization and legally leave the country. The cost of this service is 15,000 US dollars.
It should be noted that the suspect tried to be very cautious - he only worked with clients recommended by acquaintances.
After receiving the money, he was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Currently, the detainee has been informed of the suspicion under part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — receiving unlawful benefits for influencing a public official, combined with extortion, as well as under part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — organizing the illegal transportation of individuals across the state border of Ukraine, committed by a group of individuals in conspiracy, for selfish motives.
At the request of the prosecutors, the man has been chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 908,000 hryvnias.
For the committed act, he faces up to 9 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Obolon Police Department with operational support from the Department of Internal Security of the National Police.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
