14 years in prison for serving the enemy - two former rescuers were sentenced

Prosecutors of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office proved the guilt of two former employees of the State Emergency Service in the Donetsk region in collaboration activities (part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). They were sentenced in absentia to 14 years of imprisonment with the deprivation of the right to hold any positions or engage in any activities related to the performance of organizational, administrative, or economic functions in state authorities or local self-government for a period of 12 years, along with the confiscation of property.

In 2022, the two men, contrary to the evacuation order to move to the territory controlled by Ukraine during the capture of Lyman by the Russian forces, remained in the city and sided with the invaders.

In July of the same year, they took positions as "driver-rescuers" and "senior firefighter-rescuers" in the fire and rescue unit subordinate to the "Ministry of the DPR."

After the liberation of Lyman by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in October 2022, the convicted fled along with their pseudo-superiors.

They are currently wanted. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation located in Kramatorsk. The court proceedings were carried out in accordance with special court proceedings.
