Prosecutors of the Left Bank District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Dnipro reported suspicion against a resident of the city for facilitating the illegal transportation of conscripted men across the state border of Ukraine (part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect promised the conscript assistance in obtaining the status of a single father, which would allow him to cross the state border of Ukraine without hindrance. The scheme involved the production of forged birth documents for a child in a temporarily occupied territory, claiming that the "client" is the child's father. Subsequently, the suspect was to provide the man with another fictitious certificate supposedly about the death of the "wife" – the child's mother. This would give the conscript grounds to obtain the status of a single father through the court.
The cost of the service ranged from 8,000 to 10,000 US dollars, depending on the time required to produce the documents.
The suspect was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while receiving part of the "reward" in the amount of 5,000 US dollars. Currently, the prosecutor has submitted a motion to the court for the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Dnipro District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Dnipropetrovsk region, with operational support from the Migration Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the region.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
